Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were detected in fish from Ship Creek next to Port Central – Gladstone during an investigation by Gladstone Ports Corporation in 2017–2018.
The test results showed elevated levels of PFAS. Consequently, eating fish caught from Ship Creek frequently over a long period may pose health risks. There is no significant health risk for people who have infrequently eaten fish (every few months or less) from this creek. Ship Creek is shown in red on this map.
